Farm Bio

My husband and I own and operate Bent Fox Farm—a small farrow-to-finish heritage breed hog farm in Meadows of Dan, Virginia. We raise Registered Tamworth and Mangalitsa. Between us we are veteran-owned, woman-owned, and a seventh-generation Virginia farming family.

We offer whole and half nongmo and nonsoy pork shares.

We also offer breeder quality and feeder quality piglets.

We focus on whole-system thinking. We observe and interact, aim to produce no waste, and obtain a yield. For example, we allow our hogs to park out our woodlands and then use their wastes along with our chicken wastes to help build our composts. The composts build our soils into healthy more productive ecosystems and we are able to turn any garden excess into hog and chicken food. What they don’t eat goes back into the compost pile. Hogs are incredibly useful, easy to manage animals that can be core to land management.

The other facet of our operation is healthy local food. We produce clean pork meaning there are no chemicals in the hog’s food or in the hog itself. We strive to share with consumers how to make the most out of every cut of the hog.
